Pacquiao to get Bradley rematch

Manny Pacquiao looks set to face Timothy Bradley for a second time after five independent judges ruled the Filipino should have won their original bout earlier this month.

Bradley was awarded a controversial split decision following the WBO welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on June 10, with Bob Arum, the promoter of both fighters, left stunned by the result.

Judges Duane Ford and CJ Ross both scored the bout 115-113 in favour of Bradley, while Jerry Roth awarded the fight to Pacquiao by 115-113.

Following the contest, though, the WBO had hired the quintet of officials to re-score the fight and all of them ruled that Pacquiao should have won.

However, the WBO are unable to overturn the result so a rematch between the two is now the likely outcome.

“I hope with this ruling the public’s faith in boxing would be restored,” said Pacquiao . “I was not surprised by the ruling. I knew that I won, so did the whole world. But that is already over and I am now focusing on the next fight.”
