Tyson in tussle to stay sober

Mike Tyson claims he is on the “verge of dying” after revealing his ongoing fight to stay sober during an emotional press conference on Friday night.

The former undisputed heavyweight world champion confessed to being an alcoholic when he faced the press following his debut as a promoter on ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights”.

Tyson opened up about his troubles when he was questioned about trying to make amends with former trainer Teddy Atlas, who he fell out with when he was 15 in the early 1980s.

‘Iron Mike’ ended their 30-year feud by shaking hands with ESPN pundit Atlas and then opened up to the press.

“I’m a bad guy sometimes. I did a lot of bad things, and I want to be forgiven,” said the 47-year-old. “I wanna change my life, I wanna live a different life now. I wanna live my sober life.

“I don’t wanna die. I’m on the verge of dying, because I’m a vicious alcoholic. I haven’t drank or took drugs in six days, and for me that’s a miracle.

“I’ve been lying to everybody else that think I was sober, but I’m not. This is my sixth day. I’m never gonna use again.”
